Resisting the urge to use it on everything that looks like leather is harder. The useful first question is: what material and finish are you dealing with? Waxed leather, smooth grain and a matte, velvety surface can react differently to the same product.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Start with ordinary dust<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For daily care, a soft dry cloth is often enough. If moisture is needed, use it sparingly. Do not scrub the surface or try to wash away natural colour changes. Clean recesses gently, without sharp tools that could cut a thread or damage an edge.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wet leather needs patience<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After accidental wetting, blot away excess water and let the piece dry at room temperature. A heater, hair dryer or strong sun is not a shortcut to a good result. Do not seal a damp item inside a bag. Let it dry before deciding whether further care is needed.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Test first, treat later<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Test a product intended for that finish on a small hidden area. Let it dry and check for changes in colour or sheen. Do not treat alcohol, household detergents or kitchen oils as universal solutions. If in doubt, ask about the particular leather.
