In daily use, the buckle, keeper or D-ring becomes just as important. These parts touch the material, carry loads and need to work comfortably day after day. Choosing them should involve more than deciding between silver and gold.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Material and finish are different details<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stainless steel and nickel-plated steel are not the same thing. \u2018Brushed\u2019 describes a surface finish, while \u2018nickel-plated\u2019 describes a coating. Heritage uses a brushed stainless steel buckle and a stainless steel keeper. Maya uses a nickel-plated roller buckle and a closed stainless steel D-ring. It helps to know exactly what you are buying.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The whole connection matters<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even substantial hardware works together with the leather, holes, rivets and stitching. Look at the complete construction, not just its largest component. A purchased buckle\u2019s load rating cannot simply be copied onto a finished collar: the collar is a different product whose performance depends on the complete assembly.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A minute of inspection is worthwhile<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a collar, regularly check the closure, holes and attachment points. If you notice distortion, tearing or looseness, stop using it and contact the workshop.
